As a music listener, something you may have noticed when you're listening to lyrics, is that insanely specific lyrics tend to capture your attention far more than vague lyrics. Sometimes as songwriters, we tend to shy away from getting too specific, because we feel it'll start to become unrelatable. We start to think that we need to keep things vague, so that anyone can understand what we're saying. It's counterintuitive to realize that writing very specific lyrics is more relatable than writing generic lyrics.

Kelly Clarkson has today unveiled her latest music video for her new single, Dark Side, and it is an intimate and emotionally driven portrayal into what appears to be a nod to Kelly’s past, and also just honest universal issues. The song opens with the lyrics, “there’s a place that I know, it’s not pretty, very few have ever gone..” and proceeds to show a young woman facing issues including an eating disorder, pill and alcohol addiction and a relationship breakdown, but it ends on a hopeful and inspiring note. Kelly is a beautiful woman and has openly discussed issues such as bullying and weight issues and debuted a gorgeous new look at the Billboard Music Awards where she performed. Yesterday was a nice, chill day for me. It was a non-run day so I got to spend some time doing other things … like hanging out with my friend Tony, who I hadn’t seen in ages. Tony and I grabbed a late lunch/early dinner at Joan’s on Third so that we could catch up on one another’s lives. He and I are going to try and reconnect for another hang sesh next week. Last night, I chilled on the couch and just relaxed. I wanted to save up my strength because today I’m taking a drive up to Bakersfield to see Morrissey in concert!

Y’all know how much I love Moz so it shouldn’t really come as a big surprise that I’m trekking out to see him. He played San Diego earlier this week on his birthday and then he plays Bakersfield tonight … no LA date so, road trip for me. Honestly, I’d drive almost anywhere to see the man in concert. He is truly one of my fave performers and I will never tire of seeing him in concert. I can’t wait!!

Turns out, Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes has a lot more children running around than you're aware. Well, at 34, Damian Leakes isn't really a kid, but he is NeNe's stepson and one of the five kids never featured on the reality show. They are all the sons and daughters of Gregg Leakes, NeNe's soon to be ex-husband, and Damian has come forward to reveal their anger for being treat like they've been "non-existent" all these years - and spill a few secrets for revenge.

Seeing as NeNe has "become a household name with [their] last name," Damian and his siblings are looking for their fair shake at the spotlight. But why were they omitted from the family tree in the first place? Probably because they'd spill family secrets, like how their father met her at a strip club!

Yep, NeNe was a stripper! Gregg walked into a gentleman’s club near Atlanta one day and there he found her. Such a nice thing for a stepson to just blurt out, right?

There are apparently loads more skeletons in NeNe's closet, but what Damian is really after is the chance to have "closure" from being treated so poorly by his parents. He told sources:

“We need some closure. We need to know what did we do to cause this? What did we do to get Gregg to say ‘I’m going to abandon this family! I’m not going to try to be your friend or work with you or understand!’ We knew she [NeNe] didn’t like us– maybe he had too many kids. We didn’t know what her actual ordeal was. A TV show could be building process for Gregg and his kids because no one ever knew he had kids. There’s a lot of healing that needs to go on and a lot of animosity.”

Aaand there it is! Their own TV show. What else is there, really? Oh, and don't worry interested networks, he's already got the whole thing planned out. He wants to start the series off with a family intervention! He explains:

“It could start the healing process for all the kids…and maybe that could build back the trust with NeNe and help her and Gregg get back together. It could change him and her people, bring us all closer even if they decide to divorce, and finally break the ice and air it out. A lot of beautiful things can happen too in the midst of all the drama.”

Omg, there's your catch phrase, Andy Cohen! Better jump on this opportunity quick! Who wouldn't want to watch a gaggle of adult children fight about being neglected by their father and stepmother for the good of their career, when clearly these five gentle, kind-hearted, unselfish souls deserve better!

Yesterday was kind of a crazy day … this morning has DEFFO been a crazy morning. David and I are flying back to NYC later today so that we can attend the wedding of his aunt Judy to her partner of 30+ years. Judy & Susan’s wedding tomorrow will be the third of our eight weddings this year … OY! Despite the frantic harriedness of our travel schedule, I am really excited for Judy & Susan’s wedding because I love them both so dearly … so this trip is deffo a labor of love.

I’ve been asked to curate the music for the wedding so I’ve been working on a couple of classical music playlists. I’ve been a bit stressed about the task because I really want Judy & Susan’s special day to be perfect. Still, I think I have the music ready to go … I just really hope they like what I’ve selected.

Today, obvs, will be a shorter work day for me because we fly out of LA in a few hours. I’ll be in NYC for the next few days so you’ll be hearing from me from there :) See you on the East Side!

7 Days of Sex Day 5: Her Last Chance

Day 5 and it is my turn again. Well, it is supposed to be his turn, but he has a late night of work and so we are flip flopping days. Um, did I mention I am tired? Lol, keeping up with my toddler, work, housework, teenager, and the stress of my blood pressure is too much. The good new is my hubby’s grandfather is home from the hospital.
